Staff Picks:

Amy:

Avery The Reverend

This American take on the classic Belgian Quadrupel style is not to be taken lightly. Its flavors are bold and complex. Look for sweeter flavors such as caramelized stone fruits (cherries, plum, raisins) and molasses. Then, notice as that sweetness is combatted with a finishing spicy kick. It's the perfect time of year for a quad - roasted fruits with spices drawing out all kinds of flavors, complexity and emotions...

Curl up with this beer by a fire with a book and pair it with holiday cheer and buttery cheese. Watch out though... at 10% ABV it may or may not have snuck up on this reviewer while at home alone thoroughly enjoying a Netflix marathon of The Office.

Jordan:

Double Mountain Killer Green

Currently, I am digging the fresh hops and trying to still hold on to summer. I love Killer Green IPA by Double Mountain. It is an amped up version of Hop Lava with the added delight of using freshly picked hops from Oregon. This beer is brewed with a Pilsner Malt, imported and delightful Crystal hops, a little Simcoe and of course, the fresh Perle hops. The brew is juicy, balanced, and overall, super-drinkable. The aroma is citrus hops with a distinctive, grassy, herbal fresh hops note, orange and tropical fruit, pineapple and guava, some pine and sweet malt in the background. Overall, I do love winter and dark/heavy beers, but I am just not ready to give this up.
